Pro Packing Tips

Everyone loves a holiday, but no one likes to pack for it. We are all guilty of last-minute packing and even worse, forgetting must-have items at home. However, with a little bit of planning, you can turn this gruelling task into a quick and easy checklist, that will have you arriving at your destination much earlier than you expected.

Here are a few tips to get you packing like a pro.

Make a list

Start with the most important items you need to survive. Things like chargers, IDs, warm clothes, swimwear, towels, food, and water. Only once you are sure that the item is in the vehicle, tick it off the list. Remember you can reuse this list every time you travel.

Have a dedicated spot for everything

The easiest way to lose things on holiday is lack of order. If your water bottle has a specific holder or spot, always put it back there. Same with all other items, otherwise soon enough, your sunblock will end up in the cooler box and that lovely sun hat you just bought will end up at the bottom of the boot, without ever getting to see the sun.

Proper Storage

Make sure you buy heavy-duty, durable storage containers because what is the point of using cardboard boxes and plastic bags that will break before your holiday is even finished. Quality storage will help your future holiday packing, as you will learn what items can fit together and you won’t end up having to squeeze items in random places, just to make them fit. Label all the containers to keep order and stick to these labels. The added bonus is that these will stay put at the back of your canopy as well!

A lot of the items you will be using on a road trip will be thrown away, so keep biodegradable plastic bags and reusable food and water containers. This will not only help you save some money for more fun activities but, make you feel a little better knowing that you are doing your part for the environment.

Only Essentials

The most common mistake people make is over-packing. Make sure you only pack in the items you know you will need or that you won’t be able to buy at your destination. You won’t need 4 different colour jackets, but 2 extra bottles of water might save your life. Besides the less you take with, the more stuff you can bring back with you.
